The Challenge
The off-season problem, in its hardest form.
Late summer at least still looks like summer. Winter at the beach looks like winter, and the City wanted to show the range of activity actually available in those months — that the off season has real depth rather than a few consolation options.
You cannot borrow summer's imagery to make that argument. The spot has to find what's genuinely good about the place in January and make that the appeal.
The Work
Flagship partnered with Vigilant Creative to produce, film, and edit a broadcast spot for Virginia Beach Tourism.
Filming ran three and a half days across eight different locations — a pace set by the need to prove breadth. One or two winter activities on screen reads as scraping the bottom; eight locations reads as a season.
Flagship provided turnkey production including producing, directing, cinematography, camera and lighting equipment, and post-production.
The Result
A broadcast television spot, reworked by Vigilant into dynamic Instagram posts covering winter entertainment, wildlife, and horseback riding.
One shoot, one broadcast placement, and a social package that kept working after the flight ended.
