The Challenge
This project didn't start as a project.
Flagship was filming in Reno, Nevada, on an unrelated job when we met Kari. In conversation she mentioned her connection to STIHL — one built during her time as a Hotshot firefighter, the crews that hike into wildfire country and cut line by hand.
The stories she told were harrowing. They were also exactly what STIHL's "REAL People. STIHL People." campaign was built to find, and no brief would have produced them.
The Work
Flagship filmed Kari's story over an entire day.
The approach was documentary: let her talk, stay out of the way, and trust that a real account of dangerous work needs no embellishment. The saw is part of her story because it was part of the job, not because the film needed to get to it.
We scored the piece in-house.
The Result
A mini-documentary about a real-life hero, used by STIHL as part of the "REAL People. STIHL People." campaign.
The best customer stories usually aren't assigned. They're noticed.
