The Challenge
The word *hapax* means "one of a kind," and it's an unusually honest name for what the company does — artistic craftsmanship in designer concrete, where no two pieces come out the same.
The difficulty is the material's reputation. Concrete reads as infrastructure: gray, industrial, the opposite of precious. Hapax's customers already know better, but a brand film has to make the case to people who don't.
The Work
Flagship developed the concept, filmed, and edited, and scored the piece in-house.
We shot it as craft rather than manufacturing. Close on hands, on pours, on the surface finishing that determines whether a piece works — the stages where a maker's judgment shows up in the material.
Documentary approach, patient pacing. The argument is that this is artistry, so the film had to look at the work the way an artist would.
The Result
A brand film that reframes concrete as a designed material and gives Hapax a piece that carries the meaning behind their name.
